Kit requirements
As this is a short A race the kit requirement is at the discretion of the Race Organiser.
You should bring a full set of FRA kit with you. (that is waterproof whole body cover {with taped seams and integrated attached hood}, hat, gloves, map of the route, compass, whistle and emergency food). If you are required to carry this kit then there may be kit checks.
If the weather is good the RO may relax this requirement. The weather in June usually allows this to happen BUT DO NOT TAKE IT FOR GRANTED because the weather can change very quickly round here.

From Keswick follow signs for Borrowdale. Pass by Grange bridge and through Rosthwaite. Just before you reach Seatoller the Glaramara Hotel is on your right.

Race Route
The race starts on the drive to the hotel and then follows the road towards
Seathwaite. There are marshals to stop the traffic. About 10m beyond the
Seatoller junction turn left tthrough a gate and follow the compulsory
flagged route over the bridge to Thorneythwaite farm. The compulsory route
(follow the flags) continues over some pasture to a gate into the wood.
There is a very thin trod up through the wooded slopes and this is flagged
(but not compulsory). You are best off following the flags rather than trying
to find shortcuts which will be impassable.Once out of the wood you climb
up a bracken covered slope to the fellgate where there is a marshal.
You MUST use this crossing point.
The flags continue until you hit the main path up Glaramara. From now on
you are doing your own navigation - no more flags Follow the path
to the summit where there is a marshal and show him your number.
The way to the finish is just a reversal of the climb. A good few people like
to follow a more direct line on the descent especially as the terrain looks
runnable. This is fine if you are a good navigator or have done a recce BUT
every year people go wrong on the descent and lose time.
You MUST use the crossing point again on the descent and again follow the
compusory flagged route to Thornythwaite farm and across the fields. Once
back on the road you need to watch out for the traffic as there will be no
marshals monitoring the road.
The finish is on the field outside the hotel.
There will be sweepers following the race so if you are not sure where you are
wait for them and they will guide you down.
The hotel bar will be open so a good opportunity for a drink and a discussion of the day's triumphs and disasters.
