Kit Requirements
As this is a short A race the kit requirement is at the discretion of the Race Organiser.
You should bring a full set of FRA kit with you. (that is waterproof whole body cover {with taped seams and integrated attached hood}, hat, gloves, map of the route, compass, whistle and emergency food). If you are required to carry this kit then there may be kit checks.
If the weather is good the RO may relax this requirement. The weather in June usually allows this to happen BUT DO NOT TAKE IT FOR GRANTED because the weather can change very quickly round here.

Course map

The Course
The Race starts outside the Langstrath Country Inn.
Most of the route is a free choice but the green route on the map
is the easiest to navigate and run. There is a section after Dock Tarn
where the route is compulsory and flagged.
The route starts down the village street (and is usually fast and
furious) before turning down the lane to Stonethwaite Bridge.
Once over the bridge the track gets much rougher underfoot and
with the race still quite congested you need to be careful.
After about 200m the route heads off up a nice green sloping path
to a stile (usually a queue) into the wood.
This is where the hard work starts. The path gets rough again and
climbs to cross another stile followed by the big climb up the stepped
path to the open fell. You pass the ruin of an old Peat House (where
peat was stored to dry out).
From here the going gets easier as you follow the path to Dock Tarn
where you will find a Marshal (make sure he gets your number).
Continue along the path till just after a short sharp descent you reach a
kissing gate. There will be an orienteering marker here to indicate the
start of the flagged section. You must stick to the flagged path along
here (flagged in both senses of the word!) as this area is a SSSI.
The end of the compulsory section is reached at a gate with another marker.
Follow the track to Watendlath where you find another marshal. You now
follow the broad path towards Rosthwaite for about 1.5 Km. Nice easy fast
running.
Just above Rosthwaite a marshal will direct you onto a narrow path which leads
you to the broad path back to Stonethwaite Bridge.
Finally you retrace your steps back up the village to reach the finish.
The pub will be open so a great opportunity for a touch of refreshment
